An Organizational Home for Open Ledger Innovation
Sharealedger, NFP is an Arizona nonprofit corporation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(6) as a business league. It provides an organizational home for open projects, shared knowledge, and community work focused on improving financial and performance measurement systems.
Sharealedger exists to promote innovation in ledger and business systems by:
- Developing and sharing concepts for better bookkeeping and measurement;
- Supporting open software and reusable business definitions;
- Preserving knowledge that is often hidden inside established legacy systems;
- Encouraging collaboration among researchers, practitioners, implementers, and organizations; and
- Helping useful ideas move toward practical adoption.
Stewardship Protects Freedom
Open licenses give people meaningful freedoms to use, study, change, and share project work. Sharealedger's organizational role is to help preserve those freedoms over time.
The organization provides continuity for project assets, licensing records, contributions, trademarks, and community decisions. Where appropriate and legally authorized, it can coordinate action to protect the rights granted by project licenses when those rights are infringed.

Leadership & Operating Stewardship
Sharealedger is currently led and operated by its founder and executive director, Kip Twitchell. Kip is presently the primary operating steward of the organization, bringing decades of experience in large-scale financial system architecture and performance optimization.
The organization is structured to grow beyond any single individual. Future governance may encompass board members, project stewards, working-group leads, contributors, and organizational representatives.
